Sometimes
a principal needs a sounding board.
Only another principal understands how
lonely the job of a principle is.
As coach/mentors we
serve only a segment of the coach/mentor spectrum. We specialize in senior
executives, and while our emphasis is on business problems, occasionally
the business problem is a personal problem.
Originally this sector
of our business was developed to help the executive from a foreign
language/culture country adjust to conditions in what for them was a new
cultural/regulatory marketplace. It was expanded to cover any sort of
“mental block” an executive might have. A disinterested but trusted 3rd
party who can say, you have a blind spot HERE.
The difference between coaching
(an athletic coach can tutor, develop, or train someone with far greater
skills than he will ever have) and mentoring
(advising the inexperienced) is important. We combine the two, often by
playing devils advocate with a series of pointed questions. Questions
allowing you to unlock a solution.
As consultants, we get
to see many more situations and problems than is the norm. Our
artistic/inventive side lets us see connections between the diverse
examples we have seen and your specific problem. If we do not have
specific examples, our information retrieving skills can soon round one
up.
Our goal is to act as a
catalyst to help you focus, establish goals, and develop or acquire skills
or ideas to find your way over, around or through the mountain ahead. We
hope to open doors in your mind, widen your perspective, become more
effective and creative, and help you avoid errors. Above all, avoid pitfalls.
